wash & dry

Hello friends :)  The laundry room is coming along and I’m excited to show you the latest project!

To add a little fun and whimsy to the room I decided to add this cool word art.  I didn’t want to make the words too bold and steal the show from the shutters, so I painted them the same color as my walls.  It almost looks like the letters are 3-dimensionally sticking out of the wall.  Such a cool effect!  I got letters in various sizes and styles from JoAnns and Michaels.  It was fun to mix it up a little!

This is a fun and easy project that anyone can do in any room in their home.  To hang the letters I just used the Command picture hanging strips again (LOVE these things!)  No damage to your walls and easy to hang up!

More fun laundry room projects are on the way so check back soon!

Project laundry room {update}

This weekend I got to spend some time at my grandparent’s cabin with the kiddos.  We had a BLAST but it did set me back a little bit on my laundry room projects.  Time to get back to work and show you what I’ve finished so far!

Remember those hangers that I gave you a sneak-peek of in my last post?  Well here’s how they turned out!

These were so easy to make and I love that now I have some custom art for my wall! (see previous post here on how to make them)

Project laundry room

The laundry room is coming along :)

I’ve already shown you my first project (my DIY indoor shutters) and now I have a couple more projects that I’ve been working on.

I wanted to do some sort of unique feature wall and came up with an idea using hangers. Yep, regular old wire hangers covered in fabric.  I had some leftover fabric from my pillows so it was budget friendly too :)

This project was so simple and I thought it would be a fun thing to do with my daughter, Kamry.

So, here’s all of my scrap fabric I had to use in all different colors and patterns.  This is a great way to make use of those small pieces of fabric you’re not sure what to do with.

Going gluten-free {update}

It’s now been over 3 months since I started a gluten-free diet and I’m still feeling great!  My energy levels are still way better than they used to be and I’ve lost 20 pounds :)  I should also add that I have also been exercising every day and also trying to cut out sugar.  I think all of these things combined are helping me to live a healthier life and I really just feel tons better.

But on another note, I wanted to share will all of you an experience I had the other day.  My husband and I had gone out to dinner with some friends to a hibachi restaurant.  I simply asked the waitress there what they had that was gluten-free.  She just looked at me and said “nothing” (which wasn’t true..they had chicken, steak, salmon, vegetables and rice.  Last time I checked these things were all gluten-free?) So I said “is that because you use soy sauce on everything?”  She just looked at me kind of puzzled.  I told her that soy sauce had gluten in it and her reply was “yeah, well I don’t know but I just know that all our food has gluten.  So many people are on this gluten-free “fad diet”  Continue reading Going gluten-free {update}

DIY Pillows

How fun are these?  What I love about mixing all of these pillows together is all of their different patterns and designs.  There really are no rules to it…you can mix and match whatever you like!  I’ll show you step-by-step how I made these pillows and they also cost a lot less than designer pillows you buy at the store :) Continue reading DIY: PILLOWS

Family Time on the 4th

We had such a great 4th of July! It was so nice that it was on a Friday so we got an extra long weekend 😉  My parents live next door to us and they had us over for a BBQ  and we had all kinds of delicious food. Hamburgers, corn on the cob, baked beans, strawberry spinach salad, homemade ice cream….so yummy! The wind picked up toward the end of the evening and with the dry weather we’ve been having around here (and fires) we decided to scratch the fireworks. But we still had such a great time!

I’ve been working on some new projects and can’t wait to share them with all of you, so check back soon!
